We extend congratulations to these young people and may they live long and be happy. =================== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, April 30, 1964; pg. 6 Mrs. Bertha Aikin, who was staying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pete (Ruth) Richling at Beatrice, suffered a stroke early Sunday morning. After being taken to the hospital, she had a heart attack and passed away at 3:15 P.M. Sunday. Mrs. Aikin was past 88 years old, and up until Sunday morning, seemed to be in very good health. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 30th at the Christian Church with Klawitter Mortuary in charge. Interment will be in the Nelson Cemetery. ===================== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, May 7, 1964; pg. 1 Mrs. Bertha Aikin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas A. Linder, was born in Lacelle, Iowa, November 16, 1875 and passed away in the Mennonite Hospital at Beatrice, Nebr., April 26, 1964 at the age of 88 years. She was united in marriage to Oliver L. Aikin May 21, 1898. She made her home in Nelson, Nebr. most of her life, and was a member of the Christian Church in Nelson. She leaves to mourn her passing her two sons, Ralph Aikin of Nelson and Joe Aikin of Beatrice; five daughters, Mrs. Gordon Mercier of Pasco, Wash., Mrs. A.L. Bigley of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mrs. L.W. Richling of Beatrice, Mrs. Herman Hinz of Humboldt and Mrs. P.E. Olderog of Richardson, Texas; two brothers, Chas. Linder of Cumberland, Wisc., and Carl Linder of Osceola, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Etsel Wadsworth of Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. Rosa Sanders, Mrs. Pearl Shephard and Miss Lois Linder of Osceola, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, December 28, 1949. Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock, April 30 at the Christian Church in Nelson with the Rev. C.M. Foust of Ashland officiating. The music was provided by Rev. Victor Schwarz with Myrtle Worley at the organ. Pallbearers were Floyd Rouse, Con Whiteley, Walter McCutchan, H. McKinley Adamson, Chas. Larison and Alfred Gharring. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Messrs. and Mmes. L.W. Wetzel, Sioux City; Jack Hewitt, Kansas City; Carl Linder and Bernard and Miss Lois Linder, Osceola, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stansbury, Beatrice; Roy Stansbury, Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wadsworth, Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. R.W. Olderog and John Hufford, Omaha; Mrs. Ralph Darling, Ralph Darling, Jr. and Mrs. Leona Krueger, Auburn; Mrs. Geo. Pease and Gwen Mercier, Hastings; and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Olney, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Ray and Gerald Stover, Beatrice.
