Overholser Died Tuesday Morning at Hospital Mrs. Walter Overholser passed away at St. Clare hospital in this city at 10 a.m., Tuesday, following an illness that confined her to bed for less than three days. She had been in poor health for a number of years and had suffered greatly. She went out on the back porch about 10 o'clock Saturday evening and slipped on a rug, fell and fractured her hip. She was taken to the hospital and about 11 o'clock Sunday morning suffered a stroke of paralysis and went into a coma from which she never rallied, but passed away quietly in her sleep. Mrs. Overholser was loved and respected by all who knew her. She had a kind word for everyone and got a good deal of enjoyment out of life and her association with people. In all, they had lived in Fort Benton for nearly 12 years. Bertha Benson was born in Washington, Iowa, on July 17, 1878, and moved to Ringgold county, Iowa, at an early age. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin P. Benson, pioneer residents of Iowa. She was united in marriage on May 12, 1900, to Walter H. Overholser at Des Moines, Iowa. They resided in Iowa and Kansas the greater part of their early married life, coming to Fort Benton in 1927 and remaining here for ten years. They went to Missouri in 1937 where they lived on a farm for some time and for the past few years resided in Wichita, Kansas, where Walter followed his trade as a carpenter. They returned to Fort Benton in May 1945, and have since resided here. Mrs. Overholser is survived by her husband, and one son, Chester Lee, and a grandson, Gary Lee, of this city; and the following brothers and sisters: Charles C. Benson, Bemidji, Minn.; Mrs. Stella Purdue, Diagonal, Iowa; Mrs. Ora Burckett, Independence, Iowa; Dwight Benson, Boulder Colo.; Elford Benson, Grand Forks, N.D.; Mrs. Arla Olson, Minneapolis, Minn.; Max Benson, Decorah, Iowa, and other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held from the Cloyd chapel on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. The relatives have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
