Mrs. Bertha Fasholtz Hartman was born December 25, 1842, in Zwillig, Pommon, Germany and died November 11th, at her home near Bern. She came to Crete, Illinois in 1862 and in 1863 she was united in marriage to Frederick Hartman. In 1868 they came to Nemaha county where they have since lived. To the union was born nine children, six boys and three girls and of these, two sons and one daughter have preceded her. The rest are left to mourn her departure together with her husband, twenty-two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was seventy-two years of age. On the 18th of September, two years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Hartman celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mrs. Hartman is also survived by three brothers, Leonard Fasholtz of Clay Center, Herman Fasholtz of Hope, Kansas and Charles Fasholtz of New Mexico; several nephews and niece and a host of friends.
