Read More	Bessie was a beautiful spirit, just 16 when she was learning to swim in the Little Miami River, Ohio, at a church picnic on July 4, when she was swept away by the strong current. As she was being pulled under for the third time, she waved good-bye. It was hours later that her body was found downstream after a desperate search. Her father (my grandfather) was part of the search party, but didn't realize for a long time that it was his own daughter they were searching for. She was found with her hands folded softly, a smile was on her lips. She had gone Home to be with Jesus. The undertaker left her hands as they were and tucked a rose in them. My father (Watson Goodman) was eight years old when his big sister Bessie died. He was up in the barn at home on the farm when he looked out an upper window and waved to her as she left for the church picnic. She waved back and called up, "Watson, be careful!" Her last words to him. It impacted him and all the family greatly. He later went to college, married Rose Stair, became a pastor.
