Bette Irene Loghry, daughter of Paul and Mary (Grobe) Loghry, was born in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1938 and then went to accounting schools in Des Moines and Chicago. After her education, she worked for the Dickinson County Bank and later for Ham’s Pontiac dealership, both in Spirit Lake. On Dec. 31, 1950, she was united in marriage to William Lanning Jr. at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. After their marriage, they lived and farmed in Middletown Township, Jackson County. Bill died in December of 2002. Bette continued to make her home on the family farm. Bette was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson. She was a private person who loved a good conversation but was very independent and missed Bill terribly after he died. Bette is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and also all of the people who helped care for her. Bette was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Bill. ----------
