Description	:	Betty Jane Martin Booher passed away unexpectedly March 30, 2016. She led a vivacious life full of many adventures and endeavors with cherished associates, friends and family. She was born December 23, 1934, in Sunnyside, Washington to Amelia (Lorenz) and Jacob Martin, German-Russian immigrants. She spent her youth in Sunnyside, Washington and Portland, Oregon. Read More	Betty Jane Martin Booher passed away unexpectedly March 30, 2016. She led a vivacious life full of many adventures and endeavors with cherished associates, friends and family. She was born December 23, 1934, in Sunnyside, Washington to Amelia (Lorenz) and Jacob Martin, German-Russian immigrants. She spent her youth in Sunnyside, Washington and Portland, Oregon. After graduating from Sunnyside High School, she attended the University of Washington. She lived in Seattle for almost 50 years. She was active in the Mountaineers and proudly summited The Brothers and Mt. Rainier, and married a mountain climber. She was politically active in her community serving on various committees and attending public meetings. She worked as a secretary for Alaska Airlines and Fort Lawton during the Cuban Missile Crisis. She worked as a realtor, personnel recruiter, school teacher’s aide, and drove a big yellow school bus for the Seattle School District for 25 years. She enjoyed helping young people and hosted exchange students, including a young lady from Japan. She retired to her dream home with a view in Port Angeles in 2003. Her active retirement included traveling in her RV, gardening, fly fishing, joining the Coast Guard Axillary, staying politically active, swimming, keeping up with the latest technology on her Smartphone, and was an enthusiastic Seahawks fan. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Special thanks to all those who supported her in Port Angeles. She is survived by her daughters Tina Schumacher (Ray) and Nori Skretta (Dennis), her grandchildren Sasha Foster (Keenan) and Jakob Schumacher, her dear sister Alice Prescott (Ralph) and many beloved nieces and nephews. She leaves behind her constant canine companion Duchess. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Martin, and sisters Molly Kleingartner, Katie Johnson, Elsie Mattingley and Helen Price. Viewing and visitation will be Friday, April 8, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside WA. Please join friends and family in celebration of her life Friday, April 15th, 2016 at 1 pm at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, Washington, followed by a burial service at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.
