Helen was born on April 10, 1925 to Jacob and Amelia (Lorentz) Martin in Sunnyside, WA. She received her education in Sunnyside at Wendel Phillips School. She married Art Price on November 1, 1941. Read More	Helen Price 86, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the Sunnyside Hillcrest Manor and Rehab Center. Helen was born on April 10, 1925 to Jacob and Amelia (Lorentz) Martin in Sunnyside, WA. She received her education in Sunnyside at Wendel Phillips School. She married Art Price on November 1, 1941. Art and Helen began farming in 1943 and moved to land located on the Price Road in 1944. Art and Helen were married 63 years prior to his death. Helen was more than a "farmer's wife"; she was just as much at home working in the yard, garden and in the fields as she was in the kitchen. Helen and Art were supporters of Outlook School and active in the Sunnyside High School Parent Boosters Club. Both were also active in the Sunnyside First Christian Church. More recently, Helen and Art were members of the United Methodist Church. Helen and Art were instrumental in the formation of a citizen's patrol in the 1970s to assist law enforcement reduce home burglaries in the Outlook area. In December 1995, they were honored along with Joe and Rose Sheppard as co-Grand Marshals for the Sunnyside Country Christmas Lighted Implement Parade. Helen was active in the Roza Dust Dodgers, tied lures for Yakima Bait in Granger, and wrote articles for the Sunnyside Sun. Helen loved to crochet and to embroider. Family and friends were often recipients of her beautiful doilies and intricate tea towels. Helen's first priority in life was her family. She loved to fish but was happier watching her husband, kids or grandkids land the "lunker". On the day of a family fishing or hunting trip, Helen was the first one up in the morning. She managed to have breakfast ready and the hunting or fishing gear organized before Art and the kids were out of bed! Helen is survived by her children, Sandy (Fred) Dasenbrock of Tyler, Texas, Don (Bonnie) of Ellensburg, and Ron (Jan) of Sunnyside. She is also survived by sisters, Alice (Ralph) Prescott and Betty Booher, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Amelia and Jacob Martin, her husband Art, sisters Molly Kleingartner, Elsie Mattingley and Katie Johnson, brother Robert Martin and infant brother Jacob Martin. Viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13th, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. A private family burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14th, 2011 at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
