Apparently between 8:45 and 9 p.m. Monday Dave Mazour, 33, used a small-caliber handgun to shoot Bill Kenley, Jr., 37. Mazour then apparently shot himself. Both were taken by ambulance to a Hastings hospital. Kenley died before he reached the hospital and Mazour died after life support was removed Tuesday. The shooting occurred at the End Zone Bar which is located on the east side of Edgar's main street. The two apparently were in the bar,and had a brief confrontation before Mazour used a small caliber handgun to shoot Kenley. He then turned the gun on himself. This is the second time tragedy has struck the Kenley family in recent years. On Aug. 17, 2000, Traci Kenley, 28, and a friend, Bill Rundle, 25 disappeared while returning to Hasting from Edgar. They were last seen alive at a Clay Center convenience store. Rundle's Jeep was discovered July 31, 2002, in a feedlot lagoon about mile west of Glenvil. The lagoon is about 200 yards off a blacktop road which leads to Hastings. It was speculated the driver had turned off the road and then accidently backed into the lagoon. It is thought both Rundle an Kenley died in the lagoon. The two Kenleys were siblings. At the time of Monday's shooting a bus containing Sandy Creek students was leaving the school. Authorities made the bus return to the school until they had better determined what was happening in Edgar. Kenley leaves a son. Mazour apparently leaves a wife and two children. Superior Express May 10, 2007. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Billy Joe Kenley, 37, the son of William G. and Sharon (McLaughlin) Kenley was born June 10, 1969, at Hastings, Neb. He died Monday at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, at the age of 37 years. He graduated from Edgar High School and worked as a mechanic and farm hand. His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of the Plains in Edgar. Pastor Sharon Ruzicka will be officiating. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery. Visitation will be held today (Thursday) from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Church of the Plains in Edgar. Williams Funeral Home of Edgar is in charge of the arrangements. He was preceded in death by a sister, Traci Lynn Kenley; grandparents, Paul and Helen McLaughlin and William and Grace Kenley; cousins, Tracy McLaughlin and Dave Bohling. Survivors include his parents, Bill and Sharon Kenley, Edgar; a son, Blake Kenley, Edgar, brothers, Dick Kenley Edgar; and Dan Kenley, Fairbury; and a sister, Mrs. Gene Runge, Hutchinson, KS.
