Funeral services for Mrs. Martens were held in Persia, Iowa at 2 p.m. on Thursday, with the Rev. W.A. Otto in charge. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Harold Wilson and Mrs. Leslie Miller with Mrs. Stanley Martens as accompanist. The bearers were Gus Hamann, Wm Iwen, Ed Stamp, Lester Steenbock, Walter Thoms and Wm Hamann. Becker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements with burial in Valley View Cemetery. Blanche E Zinn, daughter of Gottlieb Zinn and Caroline Riepke was born December 25, 1882 in Waseca, Minnesota. She spent her girlhood days there and in 1905 moved to Persia. She was united in marriage to Henry Martens September 20, 1911. She and her husband owned and operated a store in Persia 34 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church and active in the Ladies Aid and the Community Club. She became seriously ill and entered the hospital December 18, where she died February 26, at the age of 68 years, two months and one day. She leaves to mourn her husband, Henry; two daughters, Evelyn Diggle of Neola and Maxine Welch of Logan; six grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Louise Nyberg of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death.
