Otto Zindler was born January 5,1881 at Denver Colorado. Blanche was born at Waseca, Minnesota. I was born October 17, 1905 in Persia, IA, in the house that Mable Foje now lives in. My Grandfather, Rev. Zindler came from Sibley, IA to baptize me. Later, we moved to the house that stood where Peggy Honeywell now lives. I had Scarlet Fever while living there and was quarantined. Henry Martens, who had a store where Harmony Café is now, would bring groceries to us at night. He later married my mother at Rev. Lilly's house in 1911. My folks (Henry & Blanche) built the store now called the "Elias Store". We bought eggs, cream and butter in that store and it was my job to candle the eggs. I was confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church at age fourteen. There was no high school in Persia when I finished the Eighth Grade so I rode the train every Sunday afternoon to Neola and boarded the week. I went to Summer School in Missouri Valley. Later, I taught school at Sunny Hillside, west of Persia. Frank Diggle and I were married February 6 1924. We went to Aplington, Iowa to be married by my Grandfather Zindler. We moved on the Diggle Farm southwest of Persia where I still live. My husband was born on this farm and lived there until his death February 19, 1982, at the age of 87. We had five children: twin sons, who died at birth, Cleone of Omaha,NE, Donald of Tulsa, OK, and Barbara Lou (Minehart), who with her husband and son, lives with me. I have seven grandchildren and five great-grandsons."
