Funeral Services were Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Alford Heights Baptist Church in Many, LA, Rev. Wayne Chance and Rev. Wilton Anthony officiated. Read More	Blanche Marie Rice Carroll was born in Fisher, LA on July 15, 1919, to Ivan J. and Mary O. Leach Rice. She passed away on October 21, 2012 after a brief illness at the age of 93. Funeral Services were Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Alford Heights Baptist Church in Many, LA, Rev. Wayne Chance and Rev. Wilton Anthony officiated. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery in Florien, LA. After her husband's death in 1955, she moved to Many, LA with her 6 children. They quickly became involved with their Alford Heights neighbors, community and church. For a few years, she owned and operated a small neighborhood grocery store. Later on, she worked at Nichol's Dry Goods in Many, LA until her retirement. She was very proud of her service in the military during World War II and then becoming a military wife. She was preceded in death by her husband, Durward C. Carroll; a son, Dale Wayne Carroll; a daughter, Mary Alice Cain; her parents, Ivan J. and Mary Olive Leach Rice; sisters, Gerthia Morris, Eula Lee Connor and Ahline Salter and brothers, George Rice and Fred Rice. She is survived by a three sisters and one brother-in-law; two sons and one daughter-in-law; thirteen grandchildren; twentyfour great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the staff members and residents of Sabine Retirement and Rehabilitation that made her brief stay there enjoyable, Dominick Metoyer of Hospice and a very special thanks to her devoted caretaker, Katherine Matlock. Services were under Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many, LA. Provided by Duffie & Kathy
