Description	:	Blanche R. Brown, 82, died Wednesday (Jan. 3, 2001) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bethel Baptist Church, with Pastor Scott Hontz and Pastor Jack Vandenheuvel officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Cataldo Funeral Home, Britt, and will resume one hour before the services at the church Saturday. Blanche Rosetta Brown, the daughter of Melvin William and Anna Elizabeth (Brooks) Brown, was born June 25, 1918, at Britt. She attended the rural schools of Hancock County and then stayed home to help her family. In 1938 she moved with her family to a farm northwest of Garner, and in 1992 she moved with her sister, Velma, to Britt. Blanche enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, embroidering and crocheting. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Blanche is survived by two sisters, Velma Brown of Britt and Marlene Oudekerk and her husband, Albert, of Mason City; a sister-in-law, Viola Brown, of Forest City; an aunt, Trevil Phillips of Houston, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. Blanche was preceded in death by her mother, Anna, Feb. 28, 1960; her father, Melvin, April 11, 1969; three brothers, Edwin, Kenneth and Merle Brown; two sisters, Verle and Charlotte Brown; two brothers in infancy, Alan and Alvin; and an infant sister, Aretha. --Globe-Gazette (Mason City, Iowa) 05 Jan 2001, Fri. p. 9
