Bonnie Marie Firkins was born to Paul Eugene Firkins and Frieda Fern Frueck (Firkins) Sept. 21, 1929 in rural Guss. She attended country schools in the area. She took flying lessons but instead of getting her pilot license she got a marriage license. She worked in Dr. Cooper’s office in Villisca. She also worked in a retail store in Omaha Neb. before she was married to Fred William "Bill" Garey on March 27, 1947 at Atchison, Kan. To this union was born 4 girls and 3 boys. Linda Lee Wilberger (Dave) Nebraska City, Neb., Shirley Ann Maxwell (Douglas) Villisca, Sandra Kay Peterson (Douglas) Corning, Allan Paul Garey (Phyllis) Villisca, Randall Eugene Garey, of Manson and Catherine Marie Jochimsen (Ron) of Omaha, Neb. Bonnie always had a huge garden and loved to work in her yard. One of her greatest joys was having all her family home for the holidays. She was known for her good country cooking of fried chicken and chicken and noodles. She had a very good sense of humor and greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. For many years Bonnie and Bill spent their winters in Texas and made numerous friends from all over the United States and Canada. Bonnie had special close friends at the housing where she lived. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 62 years, Bill Garey; son Douglas William Garey and great grandson, Ryder Lane Garey. She entered into death on April 28 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Neb. She had 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, a host of friends and family and her pride and joy cat, Muggins.
