Description	:	Alvene was born the son of Peter & Rebecca (Oaks) Leinweber at the family home on Union Flat. The family moved from Union Flat to Endicott/Winona area & later settled in the Prune Orchard area. Alvene graduated from Colfax High School in 1941 and worked in the Kaiser Shipyards in Bremerton for a year following. Alvene farmed with his family while studying to be an electrician. He married Emily Anne VanBuskirk on Dec. 15, 1945 and following a time moved to Palouse where he operated an electricians shop until 1948. They moved back to Colfax where he owned and operated Colfax... Read More	Alvene was born the son of Peter & Rebecca (Oaks) Leinweber at the family home on Union Flat. The family moved from Union Flat to Endicott/Winona area & later settled in the Prune Orchard area. Alvene graduated from Colfax High School in 1941 and worked in the Kaiser Shipyards in Bremerton for a year following. Alvene farmed with his family while studying to be an electrician. He married Emily Anne VanBuskirk on Dec. 15, 1945 and following a time moved to Palouse where he operated an electricians shop until 1948. They moved back to Colfax where he owned and operated Colfax Farm Equipment and worked on the family farm. In 1970 Alvene returned to the farm full time until his retirement in 1992. In 1974 they moved into their new home on the ranch at Diamond, WA where he resided until the time of his death. Alvene was a longtime member of the National Farmer's Organization and was also a lifelong rancher of cattle & hogs. Alvene & Emily purchased the Pinzgauer cattle breed in 1978 and founded & organized the National Pinzgauer Association & the Pacific NW Pinzgauer Association, serving on the board and as chairman for several years. Alvene enjoyed tinkering, bowling, and camping, hunting, fishing and adored his 8 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Emily in 2005 & 2 brothers. He is survived by his son Eldon of Waterville; 2 daughters Jeannine Burke of Steptoe & Annette Coody of Canton, GA; a brother Ralph of Palm Desert, CA; 3 sisters Neona Dobbins, Battle Ground, WA, Neola Tracy of Boise & Lyndell Repp of Colfax as well as his grandchildren & great grandchildren.
