Bourne, in the early morning hours, on Wednesday, January 27, 1926, at the age of sixty-three years, seven months and twenty-one days. He was one of a family of ten children, six boys and four girls. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. Three sisters, Ida Moore, Kate Moore, and Mrs. Mortimer Sunderland and three brothers, Bert, Joseph and Irving, are still living at Monmouth, Ill., while Robert Moore resides in Los Angeles, California. Boyd and Bert were twins. The deceased came to Delphos in 1881, when a young man of nineteen years. He was married to Mrs. Belle Morris, February 11, 1884. To this union was born one child, Claude R. Moore, now of Emporia, Kansas. He also has three step-children: Mrs. H.S. Bourne of Delphos, Guy T. Morris of Bowdoin, Montana, and Frank Morris, of Bingham Lake, Minnesota. Besides his brothers and sisters Mr. Moore leaves a wife, one son, three step-children, and many other relatives and friends, to mourn his loss. For many years, Mr. Moore was engaged in farming, living on his farm five miles northeast of Delphos. Since coming to town he has been actively engaged in the carpenter business. From 1911 to 1817 (1917) he served as mayor of Delphos, giving unstintedly of his time and energy for the good of the community. About twelve years ago he united with the Presbyterian Church, of which he has since been a member. His fraternal affiliation was with the local order of the Modern Woodmen of America. This community knew Boyd Moore to be one of the most unselfish of men. He was honored by all who knew him for his sterling character, rugged honesty, and for his true devotion to his friends. His whole life was given to the consideration of others. Constant illness in his home made his task heavy, yet he was ever cheerful, persevering, and on the alert to combat misfortune. The community is shocked by his death, which to them seems sudden; but for many months Mr. Moore knew of his serious condition, which he kept, even from his own family. About three weeks ago, Mr. and Mrs. Moore visited their son Claude in Emporia, and upon his return was compelled to give up, from which time he failed rapidly. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church, Friday, January 29th, at 2:00 p.m., conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.R. Coventry. The music was in charge of Purd, Willie, Lester and Gaylord Pilcher, known as the "Pilcher" quartet of Bethel, two of the men being nephews of Mrs. Boyd Moore. The pall bearers were intimate friends of the deceased, viz: W.A. Hale, W.S. Richards, F.B. Partridge, H.D. Billings, L.V. Jermark, and Willard Casey. Burial was at the family plot at Bethel Cemetery where short services were conducted.
