Description	:	MONTROSE HERALD - January 14, 1938 Mrs. Bernard McCabe, died December 31, 1937. Her funeral was held at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church here Monday, January 3, 1938, with Rev. Father Goffins officiating. Her remains were taken to Garretson for burial as her husband and two sons are buried there. The Catholic Cemetery in Garretson, South Dakota. She was an ideal wife and mother, and a kind friend and neighbor. Her husband died October 13, 1932. After his death she lived with her youngest son Earl on a farm 3 miles east of Montrose. She had been failing in health since her husbands death. She moved to town last May to live at the home of her son Henry and to be nearer to the church and doctor for medical aid. She was only confined to her bed for a few days when death called her. She was 75 years of age at the time of her passing. She leaves to mourn her, one daughter, Mrs. Felix Donelan, and two sons, Henry and Earl of Montrose. She also took into her home three small children, Elrena, Joseph and Bernard Godfrey, that were left orphans by the death of their mother. She shared her heart and home with these children and reared them to maturity when they found homes of their own. The McCabe family came to Montrose, South Dakota in the spring of 1918 and has lived here until her death. Bridget Agnes Byrne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Byrne was born in Kendalltown, Wisconsin September 28, 1862. She was the eldest of 10 children. On July 24, 1889, she was united in marriage to Bernard Samuel McCabe. To this union 5 children were born, three still living.
