Description	:	OGG, BRIGHT B.—Bright B. Ogg, the son of Brightberry and Frances Ogg, was born January 10, 1850, near Auburn, Sangamon co., Ill. He was married to Ellen Redfern February 10, 1876. To them eight children were born. One child died in infancy, and a daughter, Ora L. McCashland, preceded him in death four years. Mr. Ogg came to Nebraska in 1880 and engaged in farming. Ogg, the son of Brightberry and Frances Ogg, was born January 10, 1850, near Auburn, Sangamon co., Ill. He was married to Ellen Redfern February 10, 1876. To them eight children were born. One child died in infancy, and a daughter, Ora L. McCashland, preceded him in death four years. Mr. Ogg came to Nebraska in 1880 and engaged in farming. The trip was made overland with his wife and two children, occupying three weeks. The family settled in Geneva township. In the fall of 1896 he moved to Geneva, where he had since resided. Here he became active in civic and community life, filling many public offices. He served as sheriff from 1896 to 1900, and served four years as county assessor, being the first Fillmore county assessor. For three years he enjoyed the trust reposed in him by his fellow townsmen and served as mayor of Geneva. Several times he was elected to the city council. For two years he was president of the county fair board and for almost twenty years its vice president. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, fifty-nine years and was the proud possessor of the fifty-five year gold medal. After a long and useful life, he fell asleep at his home in Geneva in the early morning of January 26, 1938, aged 88 years and 16 days. Surviving him are his wife, who for nearly sixty-two years had been his constant companion, his two sons, James of Akron, Col., and Claude of Shickley, Neb., his four daughters, Mrs. John Dunn of LaGrange, Wyo., Chloe Ogg of San Francisco, Cal., Mrs. T. L. Drake of Centerville, Kas., and Mrs. L. R. Robinson of Benedict, Neb., twenty-six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mallie Newell of Winfield, Kas., and Mrs. Elizabeth Hosack of Chugwater, Wyo., and a great number of friends. Funeral services held in the Geneva Congregational church, were conducted by his nephew, Rev. Percy R. Atkins, of Winfield, Kas. A quartet composed of Kenneth Helsey, Merritt Donisthorpe, Howard Hamilton and Dr. J. Q. Adams sang, "lead Kindly Light," "Abide With Me' and "Beautiful River." The odd Fellow lodge had charge of the services at the Geneva cemetery.
