Description	:	OGG, CHARLES CLAUDE CLAUDE--Charles Claude Ogg was born August 17, 1881, to Bright Berry and Melinda Redfern Ogg near Fairmont, Neb., where he grew to manhood. He moved to Geneva, Neb., in 1894. He lived in Nebraska until 1902. He spent his life mostly as a farmer, but also on occasions joined the cattle drivers at Red Cloud, Neb. Read More	OGG, CHARLES CLAUDE CLAUDE--Charles Claude Ogg was born August 17, 1881, to Bright Berry and Melinda Redfern Ogg near Fairmont, Neb., where he grew to manhood. He moved to Geneva, Neb., in 1894. He lived in Nebraska until 1902. He spent his life mostly as a farmer, but also on occasions joined the cattle drivers at Red Cloud, Neb. In 1902 he migrated to northern Minnesota and homesteaded in what is now known as Beltrami Island Forest Reserve. Here he married Clara Ethel Voigtlander in December, 1902. They began as early pioneers where Claude worked in the woods hauling logs and cleaning land in winter and in summer, they hayed and did as much farming as space allowed. He followed the harvest across northern Minnesota and into North Dakota near Donaldson and Drayton for the ready cash they would need. In 1909 they returned to Geneva where they lied until drought conditions in Nebraska forced them to return to Minnesota in 1940 where he spent the rest of his life near Norcross, farming and doing carpenter work. After the death of his wife in 1940, he lived in various locations in the vicinity, but all the time he seemed to love life very much. There was always a song in his heart and even as he walked for his mail or walked out into the country, there was the song and that real vibrancy to his voice as he greeted people. He is survived by seven children, Paul of Norcross, Minn., Ray of Herman Minn., Duane of Bairoil, Wyo., Mrs. E. J. (Hester) Deaton of Ellensburg, Wash., Mrs. Clarence (Joyce) Krause of Shickley, Neb., Mrs. Laurence (Elaine) Weinerth of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. W. J. (Thelma) Schmock of Aitkin, Minn.; also four sisters, Mrs. Cecile Dunn and Chloe Ogg of Geneva, Neb., Mrs. Roy Robinson of Hastings, neb., and Mrs. Josie Drake of Kansas City, Kas. There are also 33 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1940, and five children: John, Ethel May, Jeanne, Glenn and Betty June. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Clifford Bahr from the Farmer funeral home in Geneva, Monday afternoon, March 20. Music was furnished by Mrs. Gay Gowen and Mrs. Ron Alfs with Mrs. James Weinrich at the organ. They sang “Abide With Me” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Pallbearers were grandsons, Phillip R and William Stradley, Paul R. Ogg, James, Donald and Gerald Krause. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
