Keota, was dead on arrival at St. Joseph Hospital about 5 p.m. Thursday following a heart attack at his home. He was a former employee of John Morrell & Co., for over 20 years. Keota, was dead on arrival at St. Joseph Hospital about 5 p.m. Thursday following a heart attack at his home. He was a former employee of John Morrell & Co., for over 20 years. The son of Charles and Rinda Carder Bower, he was born in Centerville, May 23, 1911. He had been a resident of Ottumwa most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas. He entered the service Jan. 16, 1943 at Camp Dodge and was discharged Nov. 10, 1945, at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. He was a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple. His marriage to Bernice Snoddy took place Nov. 21, 1936 at Lancaster, Mo. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Michael W., at home; three brothers, George Bower and Azel Bower, both of Ottumwa and Louie Bower of Ontario, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Irene Bradshaw and Mrs. Maxine Frazier, both of Ottumwa. His parents, and one brother, Francis, preceded him in death. The service will be Monday at 3 p.m. at the Ottumwa Baptist Temple with the pastor, the Rev. A.D. Pringle, in charge. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery where the local American Legion post will be in charge of military services at the grave. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Bower, Ed Powers, Patrick Snoddy, Bernie Snoddy, Bernie Frazier and Robert Jay. The casket will remain at the Johnson Funeral Chapel until 11:30 a.m. Monday when it will be taken to the church.
