Description	:	Calvin Warren Goecke, 88, spent most of January in a hospital, eventually being released to his family at home. On the morning of February 10, 2012, he passed away to his heavenly home. Calvin was born September 19, 1923, to Frank and Genevieve Goecke, LaMoille, IA and farmed all of his life in the LaMoille area. He served his country in an Army hospital in Seoul, South Korea. Read More	Calvin Warren Goecke, 88, spent most of January in a hospital, eventually being released to his family at home. On the morning of February 10, 2012, he passed away to his heavenly home. Calvin was born September 19, 1923, to Frank and Genevieve Goecke, LaMoille, IA and farmed all of his life in the LaMoille area. He served his country in an Army hospital in Seoul, South Korea. He was a member of the American Legion and was a deacon at the LaMoille Congregational Church. He enjoyed participating in 4-H, where he held numerous offices. All his life he was an avid cattleman receiving many accolades exhibiting show cattle. He enjoyed watching sports, birds, deer, various critters and his rotating squirrel feeder. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and also an occasional trip to the casino. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Shirley Jones Goecke; four children, Kendra (Kirk) Graves, San Antonio, TX; Deborah Ewoldt, Marshalltown; Jeff (Nancy) Goecke, State Center; and Lisa (Bryan) Sievers, New Liberty, Iowa. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Ralph, Clifford, Robert and Raymond Goecke, State Center, Iowa. Funeral services for Calvin Warren Goecke, 88, of Marshalltown, were held Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Reverend Harlan Nuss and Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. He was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Kelly Graves, Cory Ewoldt, Nathan Goecke, Brett Goecke, Jon Sievers and Dan Barker. Honorary Pallbearers were Jamie Thomas, Jennifer Knock, Jessica Goecke, Jamie Youker, Meghan Youker and Jenna Lueth. Groups from the LaMoille Congregational Church, M.M.S.C., Shomo-Madsen Insurance, family and friends were in attendance.
