Description	:	Robert L Goecke, age 85 of Marshalltown, died Monday evening, Sept 13 at the Villa del Sol Care Center while in the care of his family and Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services were held at the Estel Perrin Avey Funeral Home, with the Rev Harlan Nuss officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens and military rites were offered by the Harry C Harter post of the VFW. Burial followed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens and military rites were offered by the Harry C Harter post of the VFW. He was born August 7, 1919 on the family farm in Marshall county, the son of Frank and Genevieve Hall Goecke. On June 11, 1949 in Cedar Rapids he was united in marriage to Gertrude Vry. She preceded him in death in 1998. Two sons survive: Robert and wife Paula Goecke of Marshalltown and Thomas Goecke of State Center. There are two grandchildren, Lynn and Craig Goecke. One brother survives, Calvin and wife Shirley Goecke of Marshalltown. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, and brothers Ralph, Clifford and Raymond. Reared and educated in the Lamoille area, he graduated from high school there in 1938. In 1942 he joined the Army and served until 1945. After returning he began farming until 1991 when they retired and moved to Marshalltown. Robert was a member of the Lamoille Congregational Church, the Farm Bureau of which he served on the board for several years, Frank Lewis Glick Post #46 of the American Legion, and served on the Farm Bureau Board for 18 years.
