Description	:	Clifford Goecke, 80, of 2501 South 2nd Street, formerly lifelong resident of 1760 200th Street, State Center, died Sunday evening at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Mr Goecke had been a resident of the Grandview Heights Care Facility. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 5 at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home with the Rev Kai Manimoi of the Minerva Wesley Chapel with Ron Goecke officiating. Born on February 13, 1918 on the family's farm in Marshall county, he was the son of Frank B and Genevieve Hall Goecke. He received his education in the area of his birth and graduated from the Clemons High School in 1936. During WWII he served in the United States Coast Guard. On March 12, 1947 he was united in marriage to Inez Waltemeyer in Marshalltown. They have farmed all their married lives where he was born until moving to Marshalltown last year. Mr Goecke was also employed with Fisher Controls from 1966 until his retirement in 1983. Clifford was an avid 4-H member, showing the Grand Champion Baby Beef at the Iowa State Fair in 1935. He and his brothers also showed cattle at the International Expo in Chicago and several times at the Iowa State Fair. Besides the 4-H, he was an active member of the Lincoln Valley Golf Club, the Minerva Wesley Chapel, the Harlan G Pfantz Post #122 of the State Center American Legion, the UAW Local #893 and a former member of the Farm Bureau. Surviving him are his loving wife of 51 years, Inez, who resides at their home in Marshalltown; a daughter, Susan Goecke of Marshalltown; three brothers, Robert L Goecke of Marshalltown, Raymond Goecke of State Center and Calvin Goecke of Marshalltown; as well as several nieces and nephews.
