| Description | : | William James Wilson was born in 1834 to John and Nancy Davis Wilson in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was a descendant of Captain Peter Wilson who settled the Dan around 1740. After marrying Martha Hiler (daughter of Joseph Hiler) in 1854, they moved to Pilot Mountain NC. He served in the Civil War in Company I of Regiment 21 NC. After the war, he started acquiring land and eventually owned most of the land between the Hills Presbyterian Church in Surry County and Brims Grove Baptist Church in Stokes County along with some lots in the town of Pilot Mountain....
