Description	:	Carel Alford COSBY, Sr. Age 97, of Liberty Township, died Thursday, December 20, 2007 in Mercy Hospital, Fairfield. He was born October 27, 1910 in Aurora, Indiana the son of Robert and Ina (Clark) Cosby. He married Verlie Beck on October 4, 1930 and they celebrated 71 years of marriage before her death in April, 2001. Read More	Carel Alford COSBY, Sr. Age 97, of Liberty Township, died Thursday, December 20, 2007 in Mercy Hospital, Fairfield. He was born October 27, 1910 in Aurora, Indiana the son of Robert and Ina (Clark) Cosby. He married Verlie Beck on October 4, 1930 and they celebrated 71 years of marriage before her death in April, 2001. He was a self-employed plasterer, for more than 80 years and he used his skills to aid in the restoration of the original Liberty Elementary Schoolhouse on Princeton Road. Mr. Cosby was an avid sports fan and spent many hours attending and listening to local sporting events, especially Hamilton "Big Blue" teams in the 1940's and 1950's and his son's athletic endeavors. He was a devoted father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter in law, Faye Cosby of Fairfield; grandchildren, Gary (Vanessa) Cosby, Karen (Matt) Fuchs all of Fairfield, Tim (Joan) Cosby of Houston, Texas, Randy (Lyn) Cosby of Atlanta, Georgia and Scott Cosby of Nashville, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Kasey Fuchs, Rob, Will, Graham, Sam and Nick Cosby; nieces Cheryl Jones, Charlene Moore and Betty Kalivoda; and nephew, Bill Beles. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, Carel A. Cosby, Jr., his sisters, Elsie Jones, Lucille DuVall and Alberta Egbert and one granddaughter, Linda C. Cosby. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 28, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. with Jack Young officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening, December 27, 2007 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family expresses special thanks to the nurses and staff of the rehabilitation unit at Tri County Extended Care for their kindness and patience during his illness. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Joe Nuxhall's Project Hope, c/o Fairfield Community Foundation, 5350 Pleasant Avenue, Fairfield, Ohio 45014 or Animal Friends Humane Society, 5250 Trenton Rd.
