Read More	LAST RITES FOR AUGUST LUNDGREN HELD SATURDAY Well Known Akron Man Was Prominent In Civic And Business Circles August Lundgren, prominent in local business and civic circles for a number of years, departed this life at his home in Akron on Wednesday morning, January 31, 1951, after an illness of more than a year. He was 71 years, 2 months and 18 days of age. Carl August Lundgren was born in Stockholm, Sweden, November 13, 1879. He was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran Church of Sweden. At the age of nine, he came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lundgren, to America. They came immediately to Akron and settled on a farm in Union County, S.D., where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage with Mrs. Lillian Campbell, of Sioux City, on December 17, 1919. They moved to a farm northwest of Akron and lived there for about five years. Then they moved to Akron and have made their home here ever since; in fact, Mr. Lundgren lived in or near Akron ever since he came to this country. As a member of Immanuel Lutheran church he has been very active in many ways, was a member of the church board and serving also as treasurer and financial secretary. In civic life he was active, particularly as a member of the town council, and also served on the county board, of review. His many friends testify to his willingness to serve wherever and whenever asked to do so. A number will also be grateful for his, fine help and assistance in time of need. Remaining to mourn his departure are his wife, Lillian; two step-children, Mrs. Alice Bleckwenn, of Cylinder, Iowa, and Chester Campbell, of Akron; three sisters, Mrs. Hilda Haubold, of Burlington, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Amacher, of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Hannah LeMoine, of Richmond, Calif.; four brothers, Knut, of Burlington, Iowa; Fred, of Elk Point, S.D.;. Herbert, of Cumberland, Wis., and Victor, of Sioux City; an aunt, Mrs. Hilda Lundgren, of Akron; two grandchildren nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and. a host of friends. The loss of this useful citizen to the community will be keenly felt. Funeral services were held at the Immanuel Lutheran church Saturday afternoon, preceded by a brief service at the Lewison Funeral Home, and conducted by Pastor David J. Roy. There was a large attendance. Music was composed of Arden and Clifford Johnson; Harry Nelson and J.R. Shoulberg, accompanied by Mrs. Henning Shoulberg. Otto Larsen, Calvin Andersen, John Frisk, Olaf Nygard, Henning Shoulberg and H.A. Stryzewski served as honorary pallbearers, and Fred 0. Claesson, Ed. Dirks, Roy Nielsen, Harry Powell, Art Hasenbank and Joe Powell were active pallbearers. Interment was in the Union Creek cemetery.
