He is survived by four children, Charles, of Boone, Henry and Mrs. Emil Nelson, who live south of town, and Mrs. Phillip Watters, of Des Moines. One son, Richard, had preceded him in death. Obituary C.E. Stromert Charles Edward Stromert was born in Vestervik, Sweden, Aug. 10, 1862, and died in the county hospital in Boone, Oct. 2, 1940, at the age of 78 years, 1 month, 22 days. He came from Sweden in 1880 and located in Chicago, Ill., where he was married to Caroline Ada Anderson. Of this union five children were born. In 1889 he moved to a farm, south of Stratford, on which he resided for many years. In 1894 he united with the South Marion Methodist church and remained a faithful member until his death. His wife and one son, Richard, preceded him in death. Left to mourn his death are: two sons and two daughters; Charles, of Boone, Henry, of Stratford, Mrs. E.G. Nelson, of Stratford, Mrs. Phil Watters, of Des Moines. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Alma Lundberg, also of Stratford, seven grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Sept. 5, and were in charge of his pastor, the Rev. Murphy Duncan. There was a brief prayer service in the Schroeder funeral home in Boone at 2 o'clock followed by a service in the South Marion church at 3 o'clock. The text chosen was from Psalms 125:2, "My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." Drexel Peterson, of Boone, sang "Rock of Ages," "Abide With Me," and "Asleep in Jesus." The floral offerings were many and beautiful and bore a silent tribute to the high esteem in which deceased was held by his many friends. The remains were placed in their last resting places in the South Marion cemetery with the following as the casket bearers: Edw. Nelson, J.O. Linn, A.E. Johnson, C.W. Nelson, C.G.E. Patterson, Luther Anderson.
