Description	:	Carl Gerhard Odegaard was born on June 5, 1900 in Worth County, Iowa the second son of the late Tosten O. and Ragnild (Sorbo) Odegaard. He married Gustie C. Reyerson on July 8, 1928, at the Reyerson Home in Silver Lake. He had attended country school in Worth county, Iowa and later graduated from Waldorf College. Read More	Carl Gerhard Odegaard was born on June 5, 1900 in Worth County, Iowa the second son of the late Tosten O. and Ragnild (Sorbo) Odegaard. He married Gustie C. Reyerson on July 8, 1928, at the Reyerson Home in Silver Lake. He had attended country school in Worth county, Iowa and later graduated from Waldorf College. He was a member of the Waldorf choir and also a member of the first quartet Waldorf College ever had. Mr. Odegaard lived in the Silver Lake area most of his life. He farmed and also for nine years he taught school in Silver Lake Township. He retired from farming and moved to Albert Lea in 1974. Carl was a lifelong member of the Silver Lake Lutheran Church. He held several offices within the church and also served as janitor and caretaker of the cemetery for many years. He had a great love for music and was in the Grieg choir and also served as church choir director. He had been the secretary for the Hartland Township Creamery, was a township clerk and also served on the ASCS Committee. Carl enjoyed hunting and trapping in his younger years. He also had a great love for literature, reading all that was available, especially anything authored by “Mark Twain.” Carl G. Odegaard breathed his last at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea, Minnesota on Thursday, Dec 13, 1990. He was 90 years old. Funeral services were held December 16, 1990 at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church in rural Northwood; the Rev. Allan Stoa officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Bonnerup Funeral Services in Albert Lea was in charge of arrangements. At the time of his death, Carl was survived by two daughters, Carolyn (Mrs. Marlowe) Flesche of Ellendale, and Gladys (Mrs. Wayne) Haroldson of Windom; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two brothers, William Odegaard of Northwood and Thomas Odegaard of Lake Mills; a sister, Minnie Bakken of Emmons; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gustie; a grandson, Robert; two brothers, Oscar and Gustav; and a sister, Anna.
