Description	:	Carl Kenneth Bixler, 92, son of John Markley and Fannie Louisa Day Bixler, was born Aug. 8, 1899, on the home farm in Adams County and died Feb. 6. 1992, at Mercy Hospital In Corning. He attended Highland country school and Corning High School. He was a member of Company K, National Guard, after World War I. On Jan. 27, 1933, he married Mabel Belle Day at Maryvllle. Mo. He attended Highland country school and Corning High School. He was a member of Company K, National Guard, after World War I. On Jan. 27, 1933, he married Mabel Belle Day at Maryvllle. Mo. They were the parents of three children. He lived his entire life on the farm where he was born. He was a charter member of the Adams County Gun Club where he participated in target and trap shooting. He had been a member of the old Douglas Township Church. He was a member of the Corning Instructional Lodge #275 A.F. & A.M., Iroquois Lodge of Vlllisca-Nodaway more than 59 years and the order of the Eastern Star. He served as a Douglas Township trustee for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents: a brother Neal; three sisters. Fern Hosklnson, Marjorle Barnard and Blanche Coon; and a brother-in-law, Winifred Johnson. He Is survived by his wife Mabel of Corning; his children, Samuel D. Bixler and Carol O'Neill and her husband Jim all of Coming, and Sarah Bixler of Pasadena, Calif.; a sister, Mary Johnson of California; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held Feb. 10 at the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home In Corning with the Rev, Alfred Hunter officiating. Casket bearers were Jess and Clyde Hoyt, Chris Cooper, Bill Arbuckle, and Jerry, Terry, John and Pat O'Neill. Honorary bearers were William O'Neill, Bliss Snethen, August Bauer, John Day, John Riegel, Ralph Neill, and Art Day. Adams County Free Press, February 13, 1992, page 2
