Description	:	Fannie Louise Day Bixler, daughter of Samuel S. Day and Mary S. Amdor, was born in Dearborn County, Indiana, December 8, 1866 and departed this life at her home, 6 miles west of Corning at 7:45 Saturday evening, December 15, 1951, at the age of 85 years and 7 days. Amdor, was born in Dearborn County, Indiana, December 8, 1866 and departed this life at her home, 6 miles west of Corning at 7:45 Saturday evening, December 15, 1951, at the age of 85 years and 7 days. She was one of a family of three children, one boy and two girls. She spent her entire life in Douglas Township with the exception of 7 years as a child in Indiana and Illinois. She attended school at Douglas Center, Corning Academy, and Western Normal College, and later taught near Shenandoah and in Adams County. She was united in marriage to John M. Bixler in Adams County on March 13, 1892. They established their home in Corning, where they lived for three years, before moving to their present home. To this union were born two sons, Carl K. of Corning and Neal J. of Rolfe, Iowa; four daughters, Fern, Mrs. Allen Hockinson of Cromwell; Mary, Mrs. W. F. Johnson of Spencer; Marjorie, Mrs. Andrew Barnard of Selkirk, Ontario, Canada; Blanche, Mrs. W. E. Arbuckle of Corning, all of whom with 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1936; by her parents, her sister, Edna May, and her brother, Frank P. Day. She was a member of the Highland Adventist Church, now the Highland Community Church, of which she was a charter member. Funeral services were held at the Highland Community Church Tuesday, December 18, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Elliott L. Bodwell. Interment was at the Nodaway Cemetery. Pall bearers were Mahlon Carothers, Leslie Carothers, Clifford Jones and Hoyt, Virgil Narigon, and John Narigon. Music was by Janice Cargill and Barbara Burgan, who sang, “In The Golden”; and “Old Rugged Cross”; accompanied by Donna Watts. Adams County Free Press, December 27, 1951, page 2
