Read More	STRAND: Marlin Carl On November 29, 1988, Marlin Strand of Fort Assiniboine, passed away at the age of 79 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Mable, 2 sons; Elwood (Edee) Strand of Edmonton, Ronnie (Jacinthe) Strand of Lancaster Park, (Edmonton), 1 daughter; Elaine "Cissie" (John) Deren of Rochester, Alberta, 7 grandchildren; Sandy (Lynn) Deren; Cindy (Mike) Weber; Stacey, Karen and Freddie Strand; Shaun and Serena Strand. 4 great grandchildren; Ryan and Candice Deren; Crystal and Sheldon Weber. Marlin was born in White River, South Dakota and came to Canada with his parents, one brother and 2 sisters in 1912. In 1938, he married Mable Robinson of Timeu. Three children were born to this union; Elwood, Cissie and Ronnie. On December 6, 1988, would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. For 17 years he drove the Northland Arrow Bus from Fort Assiniboine to Barrhead and then later, to Edmonton. He was ticket and express agent for 4 years. Another of his ventures, was Del's Lunch Counter, for 16 years. He loved fishing and hunting; and in later years the T.V. was a great past time, with sports and games shows. All his life he loved playing cards. There was always a special bond between him and his grandchildren. Marlin was well liked in his community and we are sure, he will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him, as well as his family and friends. He is also survived by 2 sisters; Mildred (Charlie) Skocdopole of Eckville, Alberta and Della Carty of Fairview, Alberta. His mother-in-law, Mildred Robinson of the Barrhead Nursing Home; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parent sin 1961 and his brother Delbert in 1983. Funeral services were held at the Legion Hall, Fort Assiniboine, on Saturday, December 3, 1988, at 11am; with Reverend David Pype officiating. Interment followed in the Hillcrest Cemetery, at Fort Assiniboine. In lieu of flowers donations gratefully accepted to the charity of choice. Rose Garden Chapels LTD Benesch, Blatchford and Louis, Funeral Directors of Barrhead entrusted with arrangements.
