Anderson passed away peacefully at his home here about 1 o'clock Friday morning following an attack of the flu. He had been bedfast for a number of years but the last few weeks had seemed to improve somewhat in condition. However, the attack of the flu was fatal to his low vitality and the soul of him, who had patiently awaited the call to that fairer land with a true Christian's courage and fortitude, went back to the God who gave it. Charles P. Anderson was born in Huda Socken, Elfsborg lan, Sweden, February 8, 1839, and died at his home here on April 16, 1926, having reached the advanced old age of 87 years, 2 months, 8 days. He came from Sweden to Galesburg, Ills., in 1891. He was united in marriage to Miss Mathilda C. Carlson, March 11, 1876, at Galesburg, Ills., and lived there until 1883, when they moved to Iowa locating on a farm near Stanhope, where they lived for two years. In 1885 they moved onto a farm east of Stratford, where they lived until 1919, when they moved into Stratford, where he has since made his home and where the final summons came. Six children were born to the marriage of which one died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife, five children and 12 grandchildren. The children are: Miss Laura Anderson of Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. Selma Larson of Boone, Iowa; Arthur S. Anderson of Stratford; Alvin W. Anderson of Freeport, Ills.; and Walter Anderson of DeKalb, Ills. Also two brothers, J.W. Anderson of Lawrence, Kansas; and A.H. Anderson of Tulsa, Okla, and many other relatives and a host of friends. He had been a great sufferer for many years, and for about three years was confined to his bed and was tenderly cared for by his devoted wife. He always looked on the bright side of life and bore his infirmity with patience and cheerfulness. He was the oldest in a family of eight children. Funeral services were held from the Swedish Lutheran church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and were conducted by Rev. Jessup of Cedar Rapids. Interment was made in the South Marion cemetery. The pall bearers were: George Vedeen, Alfred Poulson, Olof Westrum, O.S. Layton, Peter Bergman and John Hubner. Among those from out-of-town who attended the funeral services were J.W. Anderson, Lawrence, Kansas; Alvin Anderson, DeKalb, Ills.; Walter Anderson, DeKalb, Ills.; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Larson and family, Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Donaldson, Mrs. C.W. Lindgren, Mrs. Elsie Johnson and Roy Staley, all of Boone; Rev. and Mrs. Rundahl of Stanhope, Miss Hazel Barquist of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olson of Fort Dodge.
