Description	:	Carl Sandstrom, son of Erick and Charlotte Sandstrom, was born in Pawnee county, just a few miles north of Larned, at the home of his parents, August 21, 1900 and died at the St. Rose Hospital in Great Bend, at three minutes until two o'clock, Tuesday morning, July 2, 1940, at the age of 39 years, 10 months and 11 days. Read More	Carl Sandstrom, son of Erick and Charlotte Sandstrom, was born in Pawnee county, just a few miles north of Larned, at the home of his parents, August 21, 1900 and died at the St. Rose Hospital in Great Bend, at three minutes until two o'clock, Tuesday morning, July 2, 1940, at the age of 39 years, 10 months and 11 days. On July 9, 1922, he was united in married to Esther Emma Andree at Ingersoll, Oklahoma, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Andree. To this union were born three children; one son, Edward Eugene, 16; two daughters, Vernelda Eileen, 12 years and Charlotte Elizabeth, three years of age. He has been a loyal and devoted husband and father, always willing to sacrifice his own comforts and happiness for that of his family and others. In 1924 he was converted and baptized and united with the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Ash Valley, Kansas. He has been an active member and kept his faith until the last, being always willing and ready to do what he could for his Master. As a child, he attended Sunday School and church every Sunday and received many tokens of remembrance from his teachers and superintendent, which he cherished highly. During the World War he enlisted as a member of the Kansas National Guard as a private in Company A, 23rd batallion, being stationed at Larned, Kansas. His enlistment date was in September 1918 and he served in this capacity until honorably discharged. He was preceded in death by his mother on June 20, 1934 and two brothers, Theodore and John, in 1928. He leaves to mourn his loss, his devoted wife and three children of the home; his aged father Erik Sandstrom, Sr., of Larned, and invalid; two brothers, Fred, of Larned, and Erick, Jr., of Bison; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Bergquist, of Weskan, Kansas and Mrs. Mary Wagner of Larned, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held in Ash Valley at the Pleasant Hill M, E. Church, with Rev. Basil Johnson of Larned and Rev. Annadown, of Hazelton, Kansas, conducting the services.
