Carole was born on Nov. 6, 1957, in Pittsburg, the daughter of Carl George and Marjorie Nadine (Ball) Alexander. She was the youngest of three children. Read More	Carole Jean Alexander, 57, of Pittsburg, formerly of Mulberry, died at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at the Girard Medical Center. Carole was born on Nov. 6, 1957, in Pittsburg, the daughter of Carl George and Marjorie Nadine (Ball) Alexander. She was the youngest of three children. Carole attended special education classes in Girard until 1969, making it to the 8th Grade level. She attended Class LTD until 1980, then moved to New Horizons in 1995, transitioning to New Hope Services in 2008 where she lived until her passing. Carole's prize possessions were her crayons and her coloring books. She enjoyed going to the park for picnics and getting her hair fixed and her nails polished. She loved to dance, going to Precious Moments and just simply socializing with her family, peers and New Hope staff. Her roommates were a very important part of her life. Carole was a proud Special Olympian who participated in bowling, track and field, and basketball. She won many ribbons and medals. She had an enormous capacity to love others. The legacy Carole left behind is if you open your heart with love to others, they will open their hearts to you in return. She shared her loving nature with many people in her lifetime and we are all blessed for having known her. Carole was a fighter who beat the odds on numerous occasions. She had several critical illnesses in recent years and was determined she would survive. Carole was stubborn and perfectly capable of expressing her opinions. She was spunky, which enabled her to enjoy life to the fullest in spite of her disabilities. No one knew for sure if she understood death. She did seem to understand the concept of "heaven," though, often expressing that she missed her Daddy. Carole Jean is now with her Daddy. She touched the lives of so many who will lovingly remember her for years to come. She was a member of the Mulberry Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert "Bob" Alexander. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma with Fr. Larry Parker officiating. Burial will be at the Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to the service time on Saturday at the Bedene Chapel. The family suggests memorials in honor of Carole to Special Olympics New Hope.
