CAROLINE JENNE Caroline Trone, only child of Jerry and Elizabeth Trone, was born May 31, 1848, on a farm which is now a part of New York City, and died in Pawnee City Sept. 22, 1944, at the age of 96 years, 3 months and 22 days, having out-lived all living things she had become accustomed to. When a small child she moved with her parents to Peoria, Ill., and Nov. 1, 1870, she was united in marriage to Oscar Jenne. In 1876 they came to Liberty and lived on a farm near the Mission Creek church. Her husband was the second resident preacher of that church, and she was a charter member of that organization. In 1905 they moved to Pawnee City and she became a member of the Methodist church. As long as her health permitted she was a faithful church worker, and when she could no longer attend the house of God she delighted herself in God's word and found comfort and strength in His promise. During the past seven years she was an invalid in her home and was comfortably cared for by her two daughters. Her husband, a Civil War veteran, died 39 years ago, and three sons, Willis, Charles and George, also preceded her in death. Her long life was full of interesting experiences. She knew the hardships and perils of pioneer life. Before roads were made she traversed the Indian trail that led past their farm home to town. She saw many changes and improvements, and the country that was so new and unbroken was transformed into a land of well-tilled farms and modern homes. During these years of change one thing remained unchanged, her faith in Christ, and she kept this faith unto the end of her well-lived life. Surviving her are her two daughters, Lena A. and Maude E., living in the home, and two sons, Clarence of Summerfield, Kan. and Fred of Liberty. Her four children were at her bedside at the time of her death. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Six grandsons are in the service of their country. Thus passes an aged pioneer woman of noble character who had lived for almost a century of time and who will be remembered by her children and their children for her cheerful disposition and her unfailing faith in God, and they will "rise up to call her blessed." Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon, conducted bty her pastor, Rev. W. N. Wallis, Rev. W. g. Comin of the Mission Creek United Presbyterian church assisted with the services. Burial was in the Pawnee City cemetery.
