Caroline Ellen, daughter of Jane and Joseph Ramsey, was born September 11, 1838 near Portland Mills, Indiana, and was aged 81 years and 8 months. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity of her birth and where she was married February 28, 1956 to Edmund Homan. Caroline Ellen, daughter of Jane and Joseph Ramsey, was born September 11, 1838 near Portland Mills, Indiana, and was aged 81 years and 8 months. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity of her birth and where she was married February 28, 1956 to Edmund Homan. The same spring they came to Iowa and to Adams County and settled on the farm near the First Baptist Church, where they lived more than forty years. In 1901 they removed to Prescott, where Mr. Homan died December 13, 1910. A brief service was held at the home in Prescott conducted by Rev. Mr. Hargis, pastor to the Disciples Church and the funeral was held at the First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Richmond A Smith. Interment was made in the Forest Hill Cemetery beside he husband. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Homan and are as follows, Mrs. Laura Chance, Prescott; an infant deceased; Mrs. Sarah E. Cooper, who died March 5, 1899; H. G. who died November 12, 1912; W. J. of Carl; Albert of Roswell, New Mexico; Henry of Grand Junction, Colorado; Oscar of Coring; Mattie died at two years of age in 1876; Mrs. Dora A Heinlan of Mexico, Missouri; The living children were all present at the funeral of their mother. In her girlhood, she was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, and although not a member of the Baptist Church, she was always a faithful supporter and attendant of it and manifested much anxiety in regard to its welfare.
