Description	:	Caroline M. Palas Caroline Marie Dorothea Voss was born Feb. 19th, 1842, in Medow, Province of Pommern, Germany. In the year of 1863 she came to Garnavillo where her parents were residing. June 11th, 1864, she was united in marriage to Mr. John Palas. Twelve children were born to them two of which died in infancy. They resided in Farmersburg township until 1901 when they moved to this place. In 1902 the death of Mr. Palas occurred. Mrs. Palas, at the time of her death May, 6th, 1911, had... Read More	Caroline M. Palas Caroline Marie Dorothea Voss was born Feb. 19th, 1842, in Medow, Province of Pommern, Germany. In the year of 1863 she came to Garnavillo where her parents were residing. June 11th, 1864, she was united in marriage to Mr. John Palas. Twelve children were born to them two of which died in infancy. They resided in Farmersburg township until 1901 when they moved to this place. In 1902 the death of Mr. Palas occurred. Mrs. Palas, at the time of her death May, 6th, 1911, had reached the age of 69 years, 2 months and 17 days. She leaves to mourn her departure, six sons – Henry and Fred of Luana, Herman and Ben of Manitoba, Canada, Arthur of Des Moines and Louis J. of St. Olaf, and four daughters – Miss Louise of Manitoba, Canada, Mrs. Louis Schultz of Luana and Mesdames Henry and Fred Klinge of this place. She also leaves two sisters Mrs. Heiden and Mrs. Wilker of Clayton Center, thirty three grandchildren and two step sons, John Palas of Postville and Wm. Palas of Canada. The funeral services were held at the Lutheran church here Wednesday morning at 10:00 o’clock, Rev. Ernest Pett officiating. The remains were then taken to Clayton Center where the burial took place.
