Description	:	Cnrrie Inez Davis, daughter of the late Wm. F. and Elizabeth A. Davis was born in Henderson County, Illinois on July 20, 1869 and passed on to her Eternal home on the morning of May 9, 1954 at her home after an illness of more than a year. Read More	Cnrrie Inez Davis, daughter of the late Wm. F. and Elizabeth A. Davis was born in Henderson County, Illinois on July 20, 1869 and passed on to her Eternal home on the morning of May 9, 1954 at her home after an illness of more than a year. Everything that loving hands could do for her was done, but her mission here on earth had been finished and she was called to rest. She came with her parents to Montgomery County, Iowa when one year old. She lived on the farm with her parents until February 14, 1889, when she was united in marriage with Frank W. McLain, who preceded her in death December 13, 1929. She was converted to the Christian faith and joined the Champion Hill Presbyterian Chuch on January 23, 1887, where she has been a faithful member, attending the services whenever her health permitted. For several years she has not been in good health but she always wanted to be in attendance at church services on the Lord's Day when it was possible for her to be there. She was a faithful and loving wife and mother and she will be greatly missed by those of her family who suvive her. She will be remembered for her good influence on the lives of her children and those about her anf for the encouragement she always gave to her family and to others. She was a member of the Emerson Woman's Relief Corp and the Christian Home Aid Society for a number of years. To the union of Frank W. McLain and Carrie Inez Davis were born seven children, six daughters and one son, all of whom are still living. They are Mrs. Mabel Ungry of Red Oak; Miss Pearl E. McLain, Mrs. Edith Parker, Mrs. Cora Birdsall, and Mrs. Velma Sawyers of Emerson; Mrs. Vera Gordy of Bloomfield, and Roy W. McLain of Davenport. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, on sister, Mrs. W. H. Schick of Emerson and one brother, H. M. Davis of Loreda, Missouri. Services were held at the Champion Hill Presbyterian Church Tuesday, May 11, and she was laid to rest in the Emerson Cemetery. Rev. J. Boyd Stevenson, pastor of the church, was in charge. The Sellergren Funeral Home of Red Oak was in charge of burial. Malvern Leader, May 13, 1954, page 8
