Read More	Published in the Harlan County Journal (Alma, NE) Thu, Feb 4, 1960: Carrie May Cassell Carrie May Russell, daughter of James A. and Susan Ellen Russell, was born July 29, 1877, north of Republican City, Nebraska. She died at her home in Republican City on January 29, 1960, at the age of 82 years and 6 months. She was married May 18, 1898, to Orly R. Cassell. They farmed north of Republican City. Eight children were born to this couple. She joined the Republican City Methodist Church on December 27, 1914, and remained a faithful member and worker all her life. She was also a member of the Lia Revo Club and for many years belonged to the Royal Neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, an infant son, Glen, and by her husband. She is survived by seven children: Mrs. Erma Kammerer of Republican City, Mrs. Sula Stolts of Hastings, Mrs. Fay Willis of Grand Island, Floyd of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Leola White of Republican City, Ralph of Denver, Colo., and Donald of Great Bend, Kans., thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four sisters: Mrs. Myrtle McCarty of Lamming Mills, British Columbia, Mrs. Alice Cassell of Longmont, Colo., Mrs. Edith Achen of Republican City and Mrs. Blanche Hunter of Loveland, Colo. Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 31, at 2:30 in the First Methodist church in Republican City with the Rev. Jerry McInnis officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Haskell Waldo and Tom Chandler accompanied by Mrs. James Buttermore at the organ. Casket bearers were Marvin Kammerer, Orley Stolts, Denny Cassell, Jack Cassell, Mark Cassell and Don Shull. Burial was in the Republican City cemetery with Zulauf-Banta in charge of arrangements.
