Description	:	Casper Morten, age 91, of Kenmare, died Tuesday, December 1, 1987 at the Trinity Medical Center of Minot. His funeral was Thursday, Dec. 3, at 2:00 p.m. at the Nazareth Lutheran Church of Kenmare. Burial followed in the Lakeview Cemetery of Kenmare. Officiating for the service was Rev. Charles Taft. Organist was Mrs. Joan Larson with Mr. Bud Carlson, vocalist. Active Casketbearers included Duane Rasmussen, Lavern Rasmussen, Kirk Morten, Kevin Morten, Allan Hanson, Dean Solomonson, Kenneth Lawson and Robert Nelson. He was born on April 16, 1896 at Denmark, a son of Christian and Bodi Jensen. The family name was changed to Morten when they came to the United States when Casper was seven years of age and they settled for a short time in the Hutchinson, MN, area. They then came to the rural Kenmare area and Casper received a degree in steam engine mechanics from the Valparaiso University at Valparaiso, Indiana in 1917. He was married to Olga Simonsen on November 14, 1922, at Kenmare and they lived and farmed in Rockford Township, Renville County, until retiring and moving to Kenmare in 1964. She passed away in October of 1974 and Casper then married Rose Jensen at Kenmare in 1979. They have lived in Kenmare since that time. He was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church and the Kenmare Senior Citizens, had served on the Rockford Township boards and school boards, and had been on the board of the Kenmare Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. for many years, having served as its treasurer for many of those years. Casper is survived by his wife, Rose of Kenmare; daughter, Mrs. Arvie (Phyllis) Hanson of Kenmare; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Olson of Eden Prairie, MN. Besides his parents and his first wife, Casper was preceded in death by his brothers, Chris and Pete, sister, Marge, and a son, Don. Thompson-Larson Funeral Home of Kenmare handled the arrangements.
