Description	:	After several months of ill health, Grandma Galyean passed away Thursday evening at nine o’clock, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. E. Morehead. For several years her health has been frail, but a decided breakdown came about a year and a half ago and since that time she has gradually failed. She reached the age of 77 years, 5 months and 12 days. Katherine Stoner was born near LaPorte, Indiana, December 11, 1837. When about 14 years of age she came with her parents to Delaware county, Iowa. May 11, 1856, she was married to Jesse B. Galyean, of the same county, and in the spring of 1880 they came to Boone county, Nebraska, where they homesteaded on land eight miles northwest of Albion. In the spring of 1894 they left the farm and located in Albion which has since been the family home, and here her husband died May 23, 1910. Eight children came to bless this family, five of whom are still living. The surviving members of the family are Mrs. Alfred Clark, Albion; Mrs. Walter Havens, Loretto; George Galyean, Albion; Mrs. Harley Longnecker, Loretto, and Mrs. Bert Morehead, Albion. Mrs. Galyean was converted in her young womanhood, joining first the Baptist church and later the United Brethren. Since moving to Albion her membership has been in the Methodist church. During her long residence here she made a great many friends, and by these she was looked upon as a kind, faithful, Christian woman, a good neighbor and one whose friendship was esteemed. The funeral was held from the Methodist church, the service being conducted by Rev. Main. The deceased was a Royal Neighbor and the members of this order attended the service in a body. The floral tributes from the friends were very beautiful. The body was laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery. (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – May 27, 1915)
