Blough, pastor of the church, officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were D. P. Gainey, Walter Kendrick, Irwin Hunter, Sam Michael, George Goff and Eric Loken. Josephine Galyean was born June 5, 1857, in Delaware county, Iowa, and departed this life at the home of her sister, Mrs. Harley Longnecker, in Callaway, Nebr., Monday, November 16, 1942. She grew to womanhood in Iowa, moving to Boone county, Nebraska, in 1884. She was married to Alfred Clark on December 1, 1880. They lived together on a farm northwest of Albion for a number of years, after which they moved to Albion where Mrs. Clark lived until two months ago, when she went to Custer county to the home of her sister, Mrs. Longnecker. Mr. Clark died in April, 1929. Mrs. Clark was converted at the age of 17 years, and joined the United Brethren church. On moving to Albion she placed her membership in the Methodist church here, transferring from Loretto. She was a faithful and active member of the church all her long life, never wavering in her faith in Christ or her interest in the church. Her constant regret of the past few years was that it was physically impossible for her to attend services. Her only child died in infancy. She leaves one adopted son, George, of Grand Island; two grandchildren, Hazel Clark Moore and Cecil Clark. Besides these and her sister, Mrs. Longnecker, she leaves other relatives and many friends. Mrs. Clark was lame in infancy, but in spite of that handicap, led an active life. She was possessed of a cheerful disposition and was patient and loving always to all who came her way. Her going marks the passing of another Boone county pioneer, a good woman and a faithful member of the church. (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – November 26, 1942)
