Description	:	Mrs. Catherine Burgesser, widow of Samuel Burgesser, died at 5:30 o'clock yesterday morning, from apoplexy at her home in Boonsboro, in her 77th year. She was stricken Thursday morning, at which time she was found unconscious on the floor. She died without regaining consciousness. Telegrams telling of her illness were sent to New York to her son, Harry, and her stepson, Edward. Her husband, who died about 40 years ago, was twice married. His wives were sisters. Mrs. Burgesser was a member of the Reformed Church. Surviving are one son, Harry, division superintendent of a railroad in New York; stepson, Edward; sister, Mrs. Ella Cameron, Baltimore. She was a sister-in-law of Mrs. Susan Weast, Prospect street, this city. Funeral Sunday at 3 p.m.; services at house by Ref. Charles Shaffer; interment in Boonsboro Cemetery. Source: Hagerstown Morning Herald Saturday, February 6, 1909, Hagerstown, Maryland Mrs. Catherine E. Burgesser died at 5 a.m. Friday morning at her home in Boonsboro, of apoplexy, aged 78 years. Her death produced a shock in the community where she was highly esteemed. Mrs. Burgesser, who lived alone, had accepted an invitation to take dinner with Mr. and Mrs. J. Hubert Knode yesterday but as she did not appear at the appointed hour Mrs. Knode went to her home and found Mrs. Burgesser lying on the floor unconscious. She remained in that condition until death. Mrs. Burgesser was an active member of the Reformed church and beloved by a large circle of friends. She was the widow of Samuel Burgesser, who died over thirty years ago. She was a Miss Weast before marriage and was born in Boonsboro, where she resided all her life. She was related to the Lane and Keedy families, of this city, and Samuel C. Knode, of Boonsboro. She is survived by two sons, Edward of New York City, and Harry, of Buffalo. Funeral Sunday at 3 o'clock from the house, services by Rev. Chas. Shafer of the Reformed church, interment to the Boonsboro cemetery. They also had a daughter they named Kate Lizzie Burgesser who was born approximately 1859 in Iowa according to the 1860 census. She was christened on 27 Sep 1861 in Hagerstown, Maryland. William was not found in the 1860 census with them. The 1900 Census shows that she was the mother of 3 children and only 1 is living.
