Description	:	Mrs. H. H. Benne died at the hospital here on Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock after and illness of seven days. She had submitted to an operation from which effects she never recovered. Mrs. Meta Benne, nee Kemper, was born July 11, 1867 in Missouri. Mrs. Meta Benne, nee Kemper, was born July 11, 1867 in Missouri. In 1874 the family moved to Nebraska, locating on a farm in the vicinity of Monterey where she attended the district school and grew to womanhood. On March 12, 1885 she was united in marriage to Herman H. Benne. With the exception of the last few years when she resided in West Point, her entire life had been spent on the farm. The union was blessed with fourteen children, nine sons and five daughters: John, Fred, Edward, Elmer, Lawrence, Ralph, Harvey, Herman and Leroy, Mrs. Alfred Pagels, Mrs. William Fillmer, Mrs. Paul Poledna, Mrs. Irvin Pages, and Leora. All reside in West Point and vicinity. Mrs. Benne was truly a devoted wife and mother. She sacrificed her all in the interest of her family. To make a good home and pleasant surroundings was her life's ambition but with all her cares and obligations she never neglected her duties to her church, her neighbors and her friends. She was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, of the Aid Society and the Bible class of the Sunday school. Besides her husband and fourteen children, she is survived by eighteen grandchildren, four sisters, Emily, Louise and Ida Kemper of Wisner and Mrs. William Handke of Morristown, SD; five brothers, Henry, McAllen, Texas; Edward of Wisner; Theodore of Page; Fred of Pilger and B.H. Schaberg of Omaha. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home and then to Grace Lutheran Church, Rev. W.A. Klink officiating. Interment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
