Description	:	March 20, 1924 - Mrs. Jacob Sievers died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Hesslingh, at Manning Monday morning shortly after midnight after being in failing health since breaking her hip three years ago, when on a visit in Carroll. While she recovered from the injury sufficiently to be able to walk about, her health since had been on the decline. Mrs. Sievers before her marrlage was Miss Catherine Hephmer and was born in Holstein, Germany, January 30, 1840. Mrs. Sievers before her marrlage was Miss Catherine Hephmer and was born in Holstein, Germany, January 30, 1840. When about 25 years old she emigiated to America with a party of friends, going to Davenport, Ia. In 1868 she was married to Fred Kroeger. He died three years later leaving her with two children: Fred Kroeger and Mrs George Hesslingh of Manning. In the spring of 1875 she was married at Glidden, Ia., to Jacob Sievers. They moved to a farm in Sheridan township which was their home until they retired from active farm work and moved to Carroll in 1894. Mr. Sievers died in this city in March 1915. Since that time Mrs Sievers has been making her home with her daughter in Manning. Besides the two above mentioned children, Mrs. Sievers is survived by a daughter by her second marriage Mrs William Zumahr of Breda. She is also survived by three stepsons H. F. Sievers, Henry Sievers, and Jacob Sievers, all of Carroll, 29 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church in this city Wednesday at 1 o'clock. Rev. Ansgor pastor of the Manning church officiating. Burial was made in the Carroll cemetery.
