Description	:	Obituary: "Catherine Lucretia Dedrick was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, May 6, 1840, and died in Parker, Kansas, August 21, 1912, aged 72 years 3 months and 15 days. At an early age she removed with her parents to Iowa and a few years later, the family came to Kansas and settled in Miami County, where she lived until the last few years, in which time she has resided at Colmbus, Kansas. Read More	Obituary: "Catherine Lucretia Dedrick was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, May 6, 1840, and died in Parker, Kansas, August 21, 1912, aged 72 years 3 months and 15 days. At an early age she removed with her parents to Iowa and a few years later, the family came to Kansas and settled in Miami County, where she lived until the last few years, in which time she has resided at Colmbus, Kansas. In December 1861 she was united in marriage to Thomas D. Rice. Four children came to them, W.W. and J.W. Rice of Columbus, Kansas, Mrs. Alice Baker of Parker and the late Mrs. Rosa Koontz of Columbus who died May 9, 1911. Her husband departed this life March 4, 1872 and all through the years down to her death she had remained true to the memory of her early companion. In her early girlhood days she became converted and united with the Methodist episcopal Church and has lived a consistent Christian life, loved and esteemed by all who knew her. She came to Parker recently to visit her daughter and hoping the change might improve her health, but about a month ago she became worse and in spite of loving hearts and willing hands, disease would have it's way and at 8:30 last Wednesday she quietly passed from this life to the home prepared for her beyond. Mrs. Rice had been a great sufferer for many years, but how consoling the promise "If we suffer we shall also reign with Him." Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her death, 12 grandchildren, three brothers, J.M. and G.L. and C.H. Dedrick of Beagle one sister Mrs. J.W. Woods of Parker and other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral was held from the home of Her daughter here. Rev. Van Buskirk, pastor of Parker M.E. Church, assisted by Rev. Homer Glaze of Bartlett, conducted the services, and her body was laid to rest in Mound Creek cemetery beside the husband of her youth. --Her Children" [Parker Message, 30 Aug 1912]
