Grosz Oesingen village church records list the marriage of Johann Jurgen Christoph Heer's, his second wife, Catherine Marie Dorothee Bergman. His parents are identified as Weiland Vollhofner Johann- Heinrich Michael Heers and wife,Catherine Dorothea,nee Schwagermann. Her parents are listed as, Hauslingg Heinrich Jurgen Christoph Bergmann and wife, Marie Dorothea Sophie,nee Bunkenburg. The marriage took place in 1856. Catherine had a son, Heinrich (Henry Bergmann) born Mar.14.l852 out of wedlock. Tradition says her parents would not allow her to marry the father of her child. Johann J.G.Heers and Catherine M.D.Bergmann's children were born at Grosz Oesingen and Wahrenholz ,Hanover, Germany. First to come to the U.S. was Henry Bergmann, son of Catherine and half-brother of the above. He went to Chicago to help clean up after the Chicago fire of 1871. He met Sophie Augusta Banaka, in 1879 they went to Jackson Co. Kansas and were married June 4,1879 and established their home near Whiting,Ks. In the spring of 1883, Fred Carsten Friedrich Christian Heers and wife,Sphia Marie Dorothea nee Neddermeyer and baby arrived in Whiting June 3,1883. Fred had served in the Prussian army and his half-brother, Henry Bergmann, had written of the opportunities for the poor in the U.S. Their fare of $96.00 was provided by a $100.00 gift from Henry Bergmann. They lived near Whiting until 1894, when they moved southwest of Netawaka to a farm they had purchased. They retired from the farm in 1917,and lived in Netawaka their remaining years. Ernst arrived in America by himself in 188h and lived with his brothers until his parents came. On April 30,1884,Hattie,age 18, and Minnie, age not quite 14, departed, Hamburg,Germany, arrived New York on May 16,1884. Went to live with half-brother,Henry Bergrrann and wife,Sophie Banaka Bergmann. One reason for Hattie coming was to marry H.F. William Banaka(brother of Sophie) a widower and establish a home of her own,married June,l, 1885 Minnie at age 16 married Friedrich Wm.Schwanke of Whiting, They went to western Ks. then Minnesota and in 1910 to Corvallis,Oregon,at the urging of his relatives there. The parents,Johann & Catherine came to the U.S. in 1885 accompanied by their daughter, Dora and husband, Heinrich Fredrich Christian Wegmeier,who had sufficient funds to pay their passage, also that of her parents and younger brothers,Chris and Bill, also sister Mary. The parents, now aged, lived near their children in the Whiting area. Henry Wegmeier purchased a farm N.W. of Whiting, which she still owned when she died in 1946. After Henry's death in 1924 she lived with her bachelor brother, Bill Heers on his farm on the Indian Reservation north of Netawaka. They worked hard and prospered and helped their younger sister, Mary Heers Strube, who lived near,raise her family as she had been widowed young. Chris Heers had lived a life of illness,and lived with Bill until his death in 1912.
