Catherine grew up on the farm and graduated from Nelson High School. She passed away on March 9, 2006 at the Nebraska Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 28 days. Catherine grew up on the farm and graduated from Nelson High School. She was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church, rural Lawrence growing up, and Mary Our Queen Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. She was employed as a secretary for the Civil Service Department. Catherine traveled all over the United States and in Japan. The last years was enjoyed in Omaha, Nebraska with her grandkids. She was a lifelong avid Husker fan. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers: Joe & Ray Schendt and brother-in-law Bernard Ostdiek. Survivors include three sons: Michael and wife Karen of Omaha, Nebraska; Raymond and wife Lauren of Chicago, Illinois; and Robert and wife Kathe of Omaha, Nebraska; 4 grandchildren: Maggie, Matthew, Christopher and Katelyn; 2 brothers: Bill Schendt and wife Lola of Lawrence, Nebraska; and Butch Schendt and wife Elaine of Kansas City, Missouri; and 2 sisters: Marie James and husband Everette of Kansas City, Kansas; and Gerry Ostdiek of Superior, Nebraska; and 2 sister-in-laws: Eleanor Schendt of Lawrence, Nebraska and Shirley Dove of Webber, Kansas; other relatives and a host of friends. Mass of Christian Burial services were held on Monday, March 13, 2006 at 10:30 AM from the St. Stephens Catholic Church in Lawrence, Nebraska with Fr. Loras Grell officiating. Lector was Gary Ostdiek, Acolyte was Clarence Kimminau and Altar Servers were Michael & Ryan Schroer. Music was congregational hymns, "How Great Thou Art", "Be Not Afraid", "Here I Am Lord" and "On Eagles Wings", with Judy Schroer as organist. Pallbearers were Tom Ostdiek, Loren Schroer, Dale Schendt, Gene Schendt, Steve Schendt and Ron Schendt. Private family inurnment at a later date in the St. Stephens Cemetery at Lawrence, Nebraska. Memorials may be given for masses to St. Stephens or Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska was in charge of the arrangements.
