Description	:	Joseph Harold Schendt, son of Theodore and Minnie (Ostdiek) Schendt, was born June 15, 1934, on a farm near Lawrence, Nebraska. He passed away Wednesday, August 13, 1997, at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 63 years, 1 month and 29 days. Joe served his country in the Army of the United States during the Korean War, being inducted November 17, 1953, and honorably discharged November 16, 1955. He was a member of American Legion, Elks Lodge #2197 and Eagles Lodge No. 3101, all of Superior. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include two sons, Larry Schendt and his wife Tina of New Providence, New Jersey, and Dean Schendt and his wife Pam of Ashland, Nebraska; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Schendt and his wife Lola and Ray Schendt and his wife Eleanor, all of Lawrence, NE, and Bernard Schendt and his wife Elaine of Grandview, MO; three sisters, Marie James and her husband Everett of Leawood, KS, Geri Ostdiek and her husband Bernard of Superior, NE and Catherine Yakus of Omaha, NE; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Public graveside services with full military rites were held Saturday, August 16, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Superior. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of the arrangements.
