She had been in poor health for a long time, but was able to be up and around until about a week ago. Funeral services were held on Thursday morning at 9:00 o'clock from St. Columbkille's church. Rev. Barry, reading the Mass and Rev. Edw. Lynch of Cherokee, preached the funeral sermon. Burial was made in the family lot in Pocahontas. the pall bearers were: Joe Krebs, Chris Reis, Henry Deacon, Ed. Biittner, Vincent Sauter and Jerry Carroll. Catherine McDonald was the daughter of Patrick and Mary McDonald, and was born on December 11th, 1864 in Gratoil, Wis. On Sept. 4th, 1888 she was married to John Flood at South Wayne, Wis. to this union nine children were born, three dying in infancy. The living children are: Pete of Yale, Iowa; Dan of Garner, Iowa; Tom of Tacoma, Wash.; Margaret of Storm Lake; and Mary and Agnes at home. There are also three grand children, Tom and Patricia Flood of Garner. Two sisters, Mrs. Mary Cummings of Perry, Mrs. Wm. Naden of Clarno, Wis., and one brother, John McDonald of South Wayne, Wis. are left to mourn her demise. Her husband preceded her in death 15 years ago. For 49 years she was a resident of Pocahontas county. She was a member of the C. D. of A. society and also of the Altar and Tabernacle society. Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Dan Flood and daughter of Garner; Tom Flood, Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. Cummings and daughter Delia, Tom Flood, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Banyard, all of Perry; Mr. and Mrs. John McDonald, South Wayne, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. John Moran, Slaton, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Moran, Avoca, Minn.; Ed. Lacy and son Wm., Royal, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Lacy, Marian and Howard Lacy of Milford; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lacy of Spencer; John Lacy, Omaha, Neb.; Bob Lacy and daughter Margaret, Misses Mary Quirk and Mayme Ryan, and Mrs. Julia Donelan, Fonda; Rose Ann Masterson, Storm Lake; Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Quinn, Jan and James Quinn of Pocahontas; Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Love; Mr. and Mrs. Russel Love and son; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Storkey and Jerald Love, all of Estherville; and Sylvester O'Conner of Grettinger. Transcribed by Teresa Davis
