The death of Catherine Orr, daughter of the late John and Jessie Johnstone of Selkirk, Scotland, took place on December 26, 1947 at the family home south of Massena. At the age of twenty she came to this country, and in 1880 was married to James Cameron McLaren, a native of Perth, Scotland, who preceded her in death in 1922. The death of Catherine Orr, daughter of the late John and Jessie Johnstone of Selkirk, Scotland, took place on December 26, 1947 at the family home south of Massena. At the age of twenty she came to this country, and in 1880 was married to James Cameron McLaren, a native of Perth, Scotland, who preceded her in death in 1922. Eight children were born, the eldest, John, dying in infancy. She is survived by four daughters, Augusta M. Barney of Sioux City, Iowa; Mae M. Dierks of Chicago, Illinois; Jessie and Alice at home; and three sons, James, Malcom, and Walter of Massena; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. As a child she was taken into the Presbyterian church, remaining in that faith always. Private funeral services were held at the home December 18th, conducted by Rev. T. B. Turner of Corning, Iowa. Margaret and Bruce McLaren sang her favorite hymn, "Sweet Hour of Prayer," accompanied by their mother, Mrs. James C. McLaren. Burial was made in the Massena cemetery.
